Why Our Ink Technology Matters

We use water based pigment inks to deliver vibrant, durable, high quality print. These inks are particularly well suited to bags and packaging, offering superior water resistance compared to dye-based inks an essential feature in the UK’s damp climate, where durability is key.

Unlike water soluble dye inks, which soak into the paper fibres, pigment inks contain tiny solid particles suspended in a liquid. These pigments sit on the surface of the paper, resulting in prints that are more resistant to moisture, light, and everyday wear.

Limiations of Digital Printing

While digital printing offers many advantages, it’s important to highlight a few limitations to ensure the best results for your packaging:

Slower for larger volumes
Digital printing can be less efficient for high volume orders (10,000+ bags), particularly when printing on both sides.

Limited print area
The printable area is restricted, and any artwork on the reverse must sit above the fold at the base of the bag.

Pantone colour matching
Pantone colours are converted to their closest CMYK equivalents, which may result in slight variations from exact Pantone shades.

Minor print movement
Small shifts can occur during the printing process, which may lead to slight alignment variations.

Not suited to large solid areas
Large blocks of solid colour can be challenging to reproduce consistently, so lighter coverage or more detailed designs are recommended.

Despite these considerations, digital printing remains an excellent choice for smaller runs (typically under 3,000 bags), where flexibility, speed, and cost-effectiveness often outweigh these minor limitations.
